Why Dragonfly Adventures?

“ Thanks for all your care and support. I now enjoy talking with my son. ”

— Mother of Student

Dragonfly Adventures provides struggling young adults (ages 18 - 25) with a unique and challenging therapeutic experience not currently offered in the wilderness industry. The program is based on three rigorous physical and emotional quests - rain forest treks, rock climbing alpine mountains, and rafting wild rivers. It is during these quests that each student's emotional and behavioral challenge (e.g., fear of failure, avoidance, co dependency, selfishness, disorganization, etc.) will be amplified with their self and their co-ed group.

The clinical and field staff will use each quest as opportunities to process these challenges with participants, as they likely reflect the current struggles in their everyday world. As the Dragonfly participant accomplishes each quest, life principles of respect, team work, trust, and self-discipline will unfold.

Our Philosophy

We use the outdoors as a vehicle for growth, awareness, self-discovery, and change. Immersing yourself in wilderness suddenly simplifies life - the distractions of peers, the media, and all the noise and confusion that permeate life is put aside. It is a place where people can once again truly listen and hear what is important. A place people can discover their strengths, examine their beliefs, and begin to make changes - now and for the long run.
