Getting the Balance Right

Like never before, young adults are being pulled by a material lifestyle that temporarily provides excitement, confidence, and success. Internet dating, drug use, and video games, among other activities, has suddenly taken center stage, despite the painful consequences that often follow this lifestyle - failing grades, family conflicts, worsening states of depression and anxiety. The idea of studying, working hard, and developing genuine relationships now has difficulty competing in this brave new world. At Dragonfly, we're ready to help you turn things around. While it will take effort, the gains can be invaluable for you and your family.

Understanding Who You Are

Unlike other wilderness programs that may last several months, our program is limited to 21 days. We take this time seriously. Each Dragonfly participant receives a full testing battery prior to their first quest. We believe this first step is invaluable for better understanding the participant and matching individual treatment with the participant's primary strengths and challenges. In addition, the psychological report can be invaluable for extending the gains experienced at Dragonfly to future settings. The full testing battery includes:

  • Intelligence and achievement aptitudes,
  • Personality assessments,
  • Behavioral and emotional measures,
  • Drug and alcohol screening,
  • Vocational interests and abilities

In addition to testing, the primary psychologist will conduct an informal interview with the participant and their family (as appropriate) prior to enrollment, in order to better understand their life history, goals, and needs.
